Blankschutz / Passivieren

Invisible corrosion protection

Bright protection / passivation

Passivation creates a chemically passive, wafer-thin oxide layer on the workpiece. The aim is to increase the corrosion resistance - without any significant layer build-up and without affecting the dimensional accuracy. This is particularly useful for aluminum because not every alloy forms an evenly protective natural oxide layer. Bright protection is the functional solution for components that need to be transported, stored or secured in intermediate processes - with a protective effect but without any visible change to the surface.

Procedure at a glance

Bright protection / passivation

Passivation is a chemical process to improve corrosion resistance. It stimulates the growth of a passive oxide layer on the surface, which protects the substrate from corrosion.

Benefits

Eigenschaften
Improved corrosion protection
RoHS-compliant (free from hexavalent chromium)
Environmentally friendly process
Suitable for high-alloy aluminum (e.g. cast and forged parts)
Improved paint adhesion
Ideal as "blank protection" for storage/transport/intermediate processes (protection without optical interference)
possible on anodized surfaces (practical example: 3-10 µm anodized, 720 h NSS without corrosion)
